David's Story
In a catch report back in November, David Roper a Fish Thailand regular was pictured with some incredible fish including a Mekong catfish of 176lb. It was then written in that catch report that his target in January was to catch a Siamese carp over 100lb. Below is a quote from that catch report...
'THE BIG 4' ....
75lb Carp \ 175lb Mekong catfish \ 22lb snakehead \ 77lb Arapaima
The trouble is now of course that for David's next trip in January, Fish Thailand need to produce him a carp over 100lb in two days fishing Bungsamran Lake - can it be done? Keep an eye out in January's catch reports to find out!'
Well, the answer is 'yes' it can be done - it has been done - with an outstanding Siamese Giant Carp weighed in at exactly 108lb.
Carp Fishing Thailand Day 1
This wonderful event did not take place until the second and final day. On David's first day he caught a cracking brace of Siamese carp both in the afternoon of 77lb & 84lb. This alone would have been a tremendous result but to then go into day two and land a 108lb specimen is almost unbelievable.
Next Fishing Challenge?
When an angler has caught both Mekong catfish and Siamese carp over 100lb from Bungsamran Lake in Bangkok there is not much more left to target. The Fish Thailand Team sincerely hope to see David back again - keep posted to see what his next goal is fishing in Thailand.
