FISHING THAILAND - SHADOW LAKE

Peter & Thomas from Sweden had recently been jungle fishing with Fish Thailand to Khao Laem Dam. The last day of their family holiday before heading home, they squeezed in one more day fishing Thailand, this time was a great opportunity for Peter to also take his kids fishing. The wonderful advantages that Shadow Lake boasts is the variety of species caught in a day and their range in size from small to enormous - perfect for the specimen angler with families in tow!

FLOORLESS CARP FISHING CONDITIONS

With overcast skies, a cool breeze & constant drizzle of rain; the weather resembled English characteristics. These conditions are no good for the striped and Mekong catfish species, however it turned the carp on into a crazy feeding frenzy for us to take advantage of.

9 bighead carp graced the banks during today, mostly falling to polystyrene ball with method fished groundbait mix. To catch this number of bighead carp in a day is unheard of at Shadow Lake and Peter's children enjoyed some action from this magical freshwater carp specie.

4 mrigal carp also fell to a combination of the above and also bread fished over crumb on the method. Mrigal are always welcome as they are perhaps the closest carp specie to grass carp and fight with great enthusiasm.

3 striped catfish was the day's catfish total which is extrememly low compared to the amount of other species we caught today - this was a good thing in our eyes as striped catfish are very common and usually bully out the target carp species; we thanked the conditions for this unusually low catch rate of striped catfish.

Featherback, java barb & Chao Phraya catfish were also caught by Fish Thailand's minivan driver, Peter & another local Thai angler; adding to the days excitiment of experiencing Thailand's wonderful freshwater fish speices.

17 FISH : 6 SPEICES : A RED LETTER DAY!

Shadow Lake without doubt offers a wonderful diversity of freshwater fish species of Thailand, which can all be caught in a single day's fishing at Shadow Lake.
